Apple, Île-de-France Mobilités launch easy way to ride Paris public transit
Riders can now add Navigo transit pass to Apple Wallet
Apple and Île-de-France Mobilités have announced that commuters can now add the Navigo transit pass to Apple Wallet, allowing them to simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to ride public transportation in Paris.
This integration has been a long time in the making, and it's a major convenience for riders. Previously, riders had to purchase physical Navigo passes or use the Île-de-France Mobilités iOS app. Now, they can simply add their pass to Apple Wallet and use their iPhone or Apple Watch to ride the métro, bus, RER, and tramway.
To add a Navigo pass to Apple Wallet, riders can either purchase a new pass from the Île-de-France Mobilités iOS app or directly from Apple Wallet. Once the pass is added to Apple Wallet, riders can simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to ride public transportation. The pass will automatically be activated when the rider enters a station or board a bus or tram.
The integration with Apple Wallet is just the latest example of Apple's commitment to making it easier for people to get around. In recent years, Apple has added support for transit directions in Maps, and it has partnered with a number of cities to launch mobile ticketing programs.
